Boom woman wins $145,000 lotto

For a week, the person with the winning ticket for the Lotto jackpot of one hundred and forty-five thousand dollars was silent. But finally today, Burrell Boom resident, Adelina Humes, picked up her well-deserved winnings at the Belize City Lotto office. She is a mother of an eight and a fifteen year old girls, who lost her sister four years ago and took on the additional task of taking care of her niece and nephew. According to Humes, she has been purchasing lotto tickets for some time and last Wednesday she bought a quick pick which turned out to be the lucky numbers. Humes told News Five she plans to spend it wisely.

“What do you intend to do with so much money Ms. Humes?”

“Spend it wisely. I’m a mother of two and I take care of my niece and my nephew as well. So I’m a mother of four.”

“Why wait so long to come and collect it noh?”

“Well, I guess I mi really need time fi ih sink in that I dah mi really the winner, you know, and I guess I give myself time fi think about weh ah mi wah do wid it.”

After taxes, Humes takes home one hundred and twenty-three thousand, two hundred and fifty dollars. The winning numbers were six, fifteen, sixteen, twenty-two and twenty-three.
