“Lucky” store hit in $3,500 robbery
For several years now the jacking of Chinese owned shops has been a growth industry for young Belize City criminals, not to mention the news media, which faithfully follow their exploits. On Wednesday night another grocery was hit and not even its name: “Lucky” could protect it. Forty-three year old Chee Yiu Chi told police that around ten p.m. a man entered his shop at 119 Amara Avenue and asked for a five gallon bottle of water. When Chee opened the metal gate to make the delivery, three more men appeared and confronted him with a hand gun. They relieved the merchant of three thousand five hundred dollars in cash before leaving the premises. No arrests have yet been reported.
