Two arrested for murder of Brit
Two suspects in last year’s murder of a British resident in Cayo have been apprehended. On September second, David Butner, the proprietor of El Cenote bar and restaurant, was found lying in his bed in the Cahal Pech area of San Ignacio, dead of multiple stab wounds. The police were seeking several suspects known to be friends of Butner, but they disappeared shortly after the killing. Yesterday, San Ignacio Police caught a break, ironically in the course of investigating another major Cayo crime: the Belize Bank burglary. While officers were at the bank’s Belize City headquarters gathering information, they spotted one of the murder suspects, seventeen year old Allan Orellano. Orellano was arrested on the spot and eventually led police to sixteen year old Luis Ramirez in the Trial Farm area of Orange Walk. The motive for Butner’s killing is believed to be robbery and although these two men have been charged with murder, officers are still looking for several more suspects believed to be involved in the crime.
