Principal to leave Belmopan Comprehensive

There are new developments at Belmopan Comprehensive School, the troubled institution whose administration was recently taken over by the Ministry of Education. News 5 has learned that the school’s principal, Rudolph Anthony, will be leaving the nation’s capital to take up the post of deputy inspector of schools in Belize City. In the interim, vice principal Alejandro Salazar, will act as principal. Salazar, however, is scheduled to retire in June, which means that both the principal and vice principal posts will need to be filled. Until this happens, the ministry will continue to exercise direct control over B.C.S. When the situation stabilizes the reins will be passed back to an elected board of management. Belmopan Comprehensive has been the scene of unrest among students, faculty and board members over dissatisfaction with the school’s administration. Anthony departs as of March nineteenth.
