Armed Burglary Accessed Belama House via Haulover Creek

At the weekly police press brief held today in Belize City, Superintendent Alejandro Cowo also shared official details on a home invasion in the Belama Phase One area of Belize City. Two thieves, who accessed the property on Samuel Haynes Street, via the Haulover Creek, entered a residence and assaulted a sixty-six-year-old babysitter from Sandhill. Alma Rodriguez’s hands were tied behind her back and her feet bound, before the two men, who she describes as being wet, ransacked the house and stole jewellery and money. Here’s what the police had to say.

“While she was inside the house, two male persons—one armed with a firearm—entered the said house and they tied her up and took her to a room. The house was searched and some small amount of jewellery was stolen from inside of the house. Thereafter the two male persons made their escape by swimming across the river. Police are looking for two male persons for this investigation.  We have had a decrease in the amount of aggravated burglaries; nonetheless, police are still patrolling these areas that are more vulnerable due to persons leaving their houses to come and work in the city. I know that within that area in Belama, we have not had several incidents of this nature but nonetheless we are still investigating this one that we recently had on Tuesday.”
