Milton’s dad says fans are behind Palacio
He’s getting more playing time, scoring more points and endearing himself to fans in Boston. Meanwhile, fans of Celtics guard Milton Palacio right here in Belize are also pulling hard for him to make a long career in the NBA. Milton’s father Clifford, in town to attend this weekend’s annual meeting of the National Garifuna Council, spoke to News 5’s Stewart Krohn about how his son is doing.

“He talks about working hard to keep up with the team. He talks about fitting in with the team members, which he has done quite well. He seems to be becoming a favourite of the fans. I got that impression from the Internet. There are several items on the Internet where fans have their views about who Milton is and what they should do with him to keep him there on the team.”
“I have a very close relationship with Belize and all my children too have a close relationship. We are always telling them about Belize, who they are and what their identity is. Milton especially, he loves Belize to death. He’s always talking about coming to Belize. In fact last year, we had to stop him from coming because it was not the best time for him to come. He needed to be around so that he could find a place in the NBA.”
“Some people claim that it’s luck that put him where he is. It is not luck. One has to be closely in touch with his children. In the case of Milton, his mother and I were always in touch with what he was doing, academically and in sports.”
When the NBA season is over Milton is hoping to organise a summer basketball camp for kids here in Belize.
