Musa attends Madrid summit
Madrid will be the site of the 2001 summit at which the Government of Spain sits down with the nations of Central America to look at ways to improve life in the region. Belize will be represented at the March eighth and ninth meetings by Prime Minister Said Musa and a delegation including Ambassador Assad Shoman, Ambassador Moises Cal and Alexis Rosado from our embassy in London. In addition to Spain and the Central American countries several other nations and agencies will be attending. It is not certain whether Guatemalan President Alfonso Portillo will be among the leaders headed for Madrid, as he is under heavy pressure to deal with an unstable political situation at home.
