Monsanto arrested for gun possession

Story Picture
The reputed gang leader who watched his infant son die from a bullet meant for him is once again in trouble with the law. Twenty-six year old Clay Monsanto of Mahogany Street Extension in Belize City was arraigned in Magistrate’s Court this afternoon on charges of possessing an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and going equipped for a crime. Police say while on patrol on Partridge Street around 1:30 Sunday morning, they intercepted a car Monsanto was driving and a search turned up an unlicensed nine millimeter pistol and an unspecified quantity of nine millimeter ammunition. Monsanto had appeared at a press conference on February seventh in the aftermath of his son’s death and urged Belizean youths to renounce violence and crime. Monsanto was offered two thousand dollars bail and a court date of April eleventh.
