Without a Trace; it’s been 1 Year since Annie Young Disappeared
It’s been one year since Anisha Young vanished without a trace. The twenty-two-year-old went missing after a night out with her boyfriend at a local nightclub on Newtown Barracks in Belize City. Family and friends as well as police searched endlessly to locate her, but with no luck. There were multiple persons, including the boyfriend, detained and questioned, but later released. And at one point, pieces of hair extensions and skin believed to be hers were found in a shallow grave off the Old Northern Highway; a DNA test later returned inconclusive. It has been a difficult year for the family who remains without closure, even though they have come to the realization that Annie is not alive. News Five spoke with Sheree Saldano, a cousin of Anisha Young, who has been the spokesperson for the family. She says it seems like it was just yesterday.

“We are still at the same point, no lead; we’ve gotten no closure. We are still working behind the scene, waiting for somebody to say something.”

“Police are not saying anything?”
Sheree Saldano
“No. Mister Espat and couple of the family members had met with Mister Williams and he had made some promises to us, and we are still waiting for him to reach out to us. We will probably have to go and visit him. Of lately, the police department had contact my aunt for her to redo a swabbing. We refused because we will do our own DNA on our own, as the family. We are just waiting; we need the assistance of the commissioner so that is what we are waiting on for us to proceed with what we have planned.”

“So the case has gone cold?”
Sheree Saldano
“On our side Duane, we will never allow Annie’s case to go cold. When we meet as a family, we always discuss, we try to strategise of what we will do next or where we will go. But to be honest, on our side, we will never. And I said from the beginning of this interview, we will not allow Annie to be another victim. We are still hoping; we put most of everything in God’s hand because we know that one day he will probably reveal to us that somebody will call, soften their hearts and we will probably get a lead to where we will find Annie.”
