GOB Seeking to Recover Excess Monies Paid to BDF Soldiers
While some officers benefited from the initial payout resulting from the salary adjustment, many of them were overpaid and government is now seeking to recover the extras.

“I understand, however, that there are some officers who had received some monies in line with this particular adjustment and that they are being asked to either refund the money, or where is the discrepancy there?”
Felix Enriquez, C.E.O., Ministry of National Security
“Because, and there were discrepancies in terms of some people, based on the treasuries analysis, some people got more than they should have gotten in the interpretation of the adjustment or the directive that was sent down from the Ministry of Finance. And so, where that is concerned those will indeed have to be recovered. How that recovery takes place we’re not doing it to them immediately, it will be explained to them how that adjustment will be done. Given the fact that they have some back pay to get anyway, a lot of these will be balanced off. So it’s not a concern that will affect them in a grave way. They did get overpaid in some cases and the responsible thing for us to do is to tell them you got overpaid and at some point we have to recover it. That’s just normal when it comes to government.”
