Mugger jacks bank deposit

A grab-and-run thief made off with a bag full of cash this morning in downtown Belize City. Carmina Baeza, an employee of Delta Store on Albert Street, was walking towards Atlantic Bank with the store’s deposit bag when she was attacked in front of Community Drug Store. Her assailant, a tall dark-skinned man wearing a purple shirt and a three-quarter jeans pant, grabbed her neck from behind and they both struggled for the bag. Though Baeza screamed as she fought, help came only after the robber ran off with the money. The thug, who left a bicycle at the scene, escaped with over two thousand dollars in cash. Police are looking for the culprit.
