One Man Charged for Barrack Road Attempted Murder

Thirty-two-year-old Bart Lucas has been charged for the attempted murder of thirty-four-year-old Christopher Guild who remains in a critical condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. On Monday night, just before midnight, Guild was walking on Barrack Road when a gunman rode up on a bicycle, pointed a firearm at his head and blasted several shots. Guild was hit in the face and two times in the upper body. He escaped and so did the shooter but not before exchanging fire with a police officer. Lucas who is from Pinks Alley has been remanded until February eighteen. According to Superintendent Alejandro Cowo, Lucas was also charged with one count of aggravated assault upon the responding police officer.

“Police conducted an investigation and on Wednesday they arrested and charged Bartholomew Lucas, thirty-two years Belizean of Pride’s Alley with one count of attempted murder, one count of use of deadly means of harm, one count of dangerous harm and one count of aggravated assault.  Up to now we have not established a motive. We know that the victim was somewhere in the vicinity of Barrack Road when this persons just appeared from Pinks Alley to Barrack Road when the incident happened.”

“A police officer was coming off duty and was walking corner of Pickstock and Barrack Road when he heard shots being fired. Upon his arrival at the junction he saw this person chasing this other persons and as a result he yelled at the person to stop. The person turned and faced the police officer. He fired shots at the police and in return the police fired shots at him.”
