Education Dept. takes over Belmopan High
Details are still sketchy, but what is clear is that the administration of Belmopan Comprehensive High School is under heavy scrutiny as the chairman of the school’s board has resigned from his post. Calvin Neal’s resignation came after he was informed that he was not conforming to the guidelines stated in the school’s handbook of policies and procedures. As a result of his actions, the Ministry of Education dissolved the school’s board of directors this afternoon. Chief Education Officer Cecil Reneau addressed the faculty and told them that the Ministry of Education will send in an evaluation team Wednesday morning to work with teachers in order to try and resolve the other issues facing the school. Gilberto Chulin, Manager of Cayo’s District Education Centre, along with four District Education Officers, will oversee the administration of the school during the next few weeks. Tomorrow Comprehensive students will be informed about the changes that will affect them.
