Guns and cash stolen from Belmopan police
They say that lightning never strikes twice in the same place… but for the second time in as many weeks there has been a major theft from the Police Department in Belmopan. The latest embarrassment occurred Monday evening when the security of the police exhibit room was breached and a number of items stolen. Among them was over twenty-seven hundred dollars in cash and two handguns: a forty-four magnum and a nine-millimetre Glock. A detailed inventory is being taken and officials believe that they are very close to solving the case. It is not know at this time if any prosecutions will be jeopardized by lack of key evidence. On January twenty-ninth, eleven high-powered assault weapons were stolen from the armoury at the Police Training compound in Belmopan. No arrests have yet been made in that case.
