William Orellana is Crushed in a Freak Accident
There was also loss of life in the west over the weekend. In a freak accident, around nine-thirty p.m. on Friday, police were called to a work site just outside of Georgeville on the George Price Highway, between miles sixty and sixty-one. William Orellana, a forty-five-year-old resident of a Benque Viejo, was standing between a cement truck and a water truck when the hydraulic leg of the cement truck sank into the ground, causing it to tilt toward the water truck and Orellana was caught between the trucks and his head was crushed. ACP Joseph Myvett shares what the investigation is showing so far.
ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
“What the police know so far is that shortly before that time, Mister Orellana was involved in the cleaning of equipment; to be exact, the washing of one of those heavy equipment trucks which was on one of those stands and apparently, the stand that it was on sunk and it was parked just beside another vehicle which caused it to lean towards where the other vehicle was crushing him. As a result, the truck was partially removed from there and upon police’s arrival, he was observed to be on the ground motionless. Police are investigating this matter.”

“Sir, the yard where the accident took place is owned by Mister Imer Hernandez. Sources say that his son was manipulating the vehicle when it tilted over, crushing the other gentleman to death and that the body may have been moved before police got there.”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“I do not know that that was the case. That information was not given to us. In any event of an accident, the scene will be processed and that would have or will show whether or not where the incident occurred is where the body was found. That will be determined during the investigation.”
