Christmas Messages from the PM and Opposition Leader
Annual Christmas messages from Prime Minister Dean Barrow and Leader of the Opposition John Briceño are currently being aired across the media but we take special time to focus on what our country’s political leaders are sharing with the people of Belize. Both leaders are spreading the joy of the season and a warm encouragement to spend time with family and friends in celebration of the birth of Christ.
Prime Minister Dean Barrow
“Once again, Christmas is upon us and the magic with golden light, the elixir of the season is abroad in our country. This is a time of joy. It is a time of redemption. It is a time when neighbors that have not spoken, families that have been divided, friends that have been estranged all come together. There is healing, there is mending, there is melding and it is all a consequence of the love that is at the center of Christmas. A love that is wondrous, a love that brings comfort to the afflicted, a love that is miraculous because it is the love of Christ Jesus, the love of God. Let us celebrate and be merry. Let us celebrate and feel good. Let us do good. Let us clasp and cleave to each other and let us give thanks for the many blessings that the almighty has scattered throughout this land.”
John Briceño, Leader of the Opposition
“Season’s Greetings! This is the time when Christians across our beautiful Belize and worldwide celebrate the great hope that arrived with the birth of Christ. We’re all aware of the scripture reading in Matthew’s gospel, Chapter One, Verse Twenty-one, when the angel appeared to Joseph in a dream and told him that Mary would give birth to a son and you are to give him the name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins. Something I love the most at this holiday time are the beautiful smiles on so many of our faces at this time of year. Even those who may be struggling and those stressed by trying to meet the many expenses at this time of year can find some reason to smile. Know that at this time all Belizeans think of some way to help the many of our people who are suffering from poverty. We should all do what we can to help those most in need, not just at Christmas time but all year long.”
