No Beef with Chamber, Says AG Peyrefitte
The Attorney General, despite being rather snappy when it comes to the chamber of commerce, says that it’s not about purposely being confrontational but that the business organization tends to want to manage the affairs of government.
Michael Peyrefitte, Attorney General
“It’s not a matter of not having a relationship with them or even being adversarial with them but they want to, whenever businesspeople want to be politicians or politicians want to take over business people’s businesses you’re going to have a clash. We listen to everybody. We try to facilitate everything, even if it gets to the point where the prime minister has to sit down with any entity and negotiate and talk and come to some kind of agreement. But we were elected by the people to serve the people, so we are the ones that the people look to and we have to be responsible for everybody in the country, not just the business community.”
