Santa Cruz Businessman Drives Off in Brand New 2020 Wingle

Businessman Kenny Ma is the lucky winner of a 2020 Great Wall Wingle pickup after participating in a Christmas raffle organized and promoted by Digi and Caribbean Tire Limited.  With over half a million entries in the lottery which was narrowed down to two hundred random entries on the day of the draw, Ma’s ticket was the first to be chosen.  We caught up with the Santa Cruz resident in Belize City this afternoon where the keys to the brand new vehicle were handed over to him by representatives of the telecommunications company.

“This is the third or fourth vehicle that we’ve raffled so far and the process has been the same for all the raffles.  At the end of the day, for example, this particular raffle we ended up with over six hundred and sixty thousand individual entries, and like you rightfully said, Belizeans are accustomed to getting a raffle ticket, tear half and write their name and number on one half and drop it in a barrel and for that visibility they want to see the barrel spinning.  They want to see somebody push their hands in, take that ticket out, call and, you know, announce who‘s the winner.  But for us, number one, we had to cut off at about two o‘clock on Tuesday, just to give the last minute shoppers some time to get into the raffle and then what we did, because it is an automated process, we did a random selection in the presence of our auditors and we short-listed two hundred individual persons.”
