A Belize City Resident is Injured in Shooting; but No Motive
There was no reported gun violence in the city and elsewhere over the New Year holiday. But leading up to 2020, there were several violent incidents recorded. On December thirtieth around eight p.m., Lukie Barrow, a resident of CET Site in Belize City was injured during a shooting incident in the Gungulung area. He has since been treated and released from the K.H.M.H. A motive, however, has not been established because police say that Barrow is only partially cooperating with investigators.
Supt. Alejandro Cowo, O.C., C.I.B., Eastern Division
“Police went to the hospital where they observed Lukie Barrow, twenty-three-year-old Belizean of a CET Site address, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to his body. What we understand that is Mister Barrow was walking towards his residence when he was approached by someone who fired shots at his direction, causing injuries to him. So far police have spoken to him, but we have not received an entire detailed account of the event from him. He was discharged yesterday from the hospital.”

“When you say you have not gotten an entirely detailed account from him is it that he is not cooperating, partially cooperating with police?”
Supt. Alejandro Cowo
“Well he is partially cooperating.”
Reporter
“Well I am not sure how you deal with that but is there any motive for this shooting?”
Supt. Alejandro Cowo
“Well we tried to inquire that from him and based on what we are getting, up to now we have not established a motive.”
Reporter
“And is he someone known to the police?”
Supt. Alejandro Cowo
“Yes, he is a very well-known person.”
