The Opposition party is calling on the government to urgently find a solution to the problem. P.U.P. “This is the problem that has been coming along because of the fast growing pace of the island. The island is growing exponentially. So in terms of water and electricity, it has been a problem all year long. So it is not surprising. I think the authorities, the companies knew that this coming and they were crossing their fingers hoping that this would pass through and the worst happened. First of all we need to make it clear this is more than a political issue. Therefore for us to say this is not a political issue, it is an error. It is an everybody issue and it is a clear question that there is a problem with leadership right here. So I come here to say that the People’s United Party is well aware of what is happening. We are consulting. The Party Leader is fully aware and we know we have our work cut out when the government changes that this cannot continue like that. We have to look at long term solutions. We cannot be looking at patch-patch work right now. We know that there have been promises that they are going to be hooking up Caye Caulker to the national grid. We are just hearing rhetoric. It is all we are seeing are ground breaking ceremonies to do these perception things that are always dandy but all is not well right here. So for me to say that it should not be political I shoot that down point blank.”
