Belmopan City payroll jacked by armed bicyclists

The Belmopan City Council found themselves strapped for cash today when three of their workers were held up and robbed of the weekly payroll. Around 10:30 this morning, City Council employees Sebastian Morales, Andy Avila and Wilhelm Coye, left the Belize Bank in a truck with the payroll of nine thousand, five hundred and fifty dollars. Upon reaching an intersection in the area of Unity Boulevard, two men rode up to the vehicle on bicycles. One of the men threw his bike in front of the truck forcing it to stop. Armed with a pump action shotgun and a handgun, the men approached the vehicle and demanded the bag. They then rode off on their bicycles with the cash. According to police, the men were not wearing masks. Two suspects have been detained for questioning.
