City Man Charged for Southside Shooting

A minor narrowly escaped from a storm of bullets on Monday. A gunman fired off several shots at the sixteen-year-old’s direction towards his grandmother’s residence in the Jane Usher Boulevard area of Belize City.  The gunman, Giovanni Lambey, has since been arraigned on a charge of aggravated assault. When he appeared in court on Wednesday he pleaded guilty to the attempted shooting. C.I.B.’s Superintendent Alejandro Cowo shared details with the press.

“Has the weapon that he used been found?”

Supt. Alejandro Cowo

“No.”

Andrea Polanco

“Is there a reason why he fired those shots at that particular home?”

Supt. Alejandro Cowo

“Well, he didn’t mention any reason but we have established that there is an ongoing dispute in that neighbourhood among some of the people that live right in that vicinity and we believe that that was the motive there.”

Lambey was fined two thousand dollars and given until end of April to pay the fine and if he fails to do so, he will be sent to prison for two years.
