Prime Minister represents CARICOM in Haiti

While the bulk of Belize’s diplomatic corps presents our case in Washington, Prime Minister Said Musa is engaging in a bit of diplomacy of his own in Haiti. The Prime Minister is in Port au Prince representing the CARICOM heads of government at the inauguration of President Jean Bertrand Aristide. Haiti is about to become the newest member of CARICOM. Musa is accompanied by Eduardo Lama, Belize’s Ambassador designate to the Dominican Republic and Jean Gardere, Belize’s honourary counsul in Haiti. The Prime Minister returns to Belize on Thursday but will depart early next week for the CARICOM summit in Barbados. At that meeting Musa will be joined by former Prime Minister George Price who will receive a special award from CARICOM for his distinguished service to the region.
