Lord’s Bank Villager is Targeted by Gunman
The second victim of the gun violence over the weekend was Philip Guzman, a resident of the Hollywood area in Lord’s Bank Village. Guzman was heading home from work when one of two persons opened fire at him. At this time, a motive has not been established and police are looking for a person from the area, who they believe, can assist with the investigation. Luckily, Guzman’s injuries were not life-threatening and he has since been released from the K.H.M.H. News Five’s Duane Moody reports.

A nineteen-year-old Lord’s Bank resident is tonight lucky to be alive after he was targeted by a gunman on the night of January eleventh. Philip Guzman had just left work and was heading to his house in the Hollywood area of the village when he was fired upon. According to Pedro Guzman, his son was hit to the lower jaw and the bullet exited his mouth.

“I mi deh dah my sister down deh di work and dehn call me and tell me dehn shoot yo son. And I say what? I noh even want talk about it cause it hurt me soh bad. He used to work dah di gas station and ih mi di come from work and di go home. He sit down right yah and ih see the bwai dehn pass and dehn hail ahn and dehn gone. When ih see dehn come back again. And then he decide to walk go home and then dehn come back and dodge ahn right deh through the road. Fire di first shot; ih duck and it miss ih head. The next one ketch ahn right yah and come out through ih mouth. Lucky thing ih come out through ih mouth or else ih mi wah dead.”

“Police visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where they observed Philip Guzman, nineteen years of age, with an apparent gunshot wound to the body. What we understand is that Mister Guzman was walking in the Hollywood area when he was approached by two male persons. One of them pulled out a firearm and fired shots at his direction causing an injury to his body.”
According to Superintendent Alejandro Cowo, investigators are looking for one person in connection with this shooting incident. Police say they are checking to see if the shooting may be over a gang war in the area.

“He resides almost at that location, not far from where he was shot. I know that there is an ongoing dispute among two groups likewise in that area and that’s what we are following. We have a person that we are looking for at this moment.”

“And di two person just pass not too long and di watch hard and dehn gone ina wah car dah back soh. And the police noh even look fi hold dehn already.”

“But what coulda mi trigger this? Why dehn shoot yo son?”

“I noh really know dah weh happen mien. We live here about three years and nothing like that ever happen.”

“Philip hangs around with the wrong people? He has any beef with anybody or anything like that?”

“I noh think so, cause he always deh by ihself.”
