Village water systems inaugurated in Toledo

Three villages in the Toledo District are the proud owners of new community water systems. The water systems for San Vicente, Jacintoville and San Marcos, all inaugurated by Prime Minister Said Musa on Wednesday, were constructed at a cost of just under two hundred thousand dollars each. The government of Belize, through the Social Investment Fund, provided most of the money, but the village residents also supplied labour critical to the project. The over one thousand, four hundred inhabitants of the three villages will no longer have to carry water from wells and will thus have more time for other work or relaxation. The availability of clean water directly to homes will also improve health standards in the three communities. Contractors for the projects were Reginald Jackson in Jacintoville, George Andrews in San Vicente and Isaiah Banner in San Marcos.
