Streetwise youths seek jobs

While the community tries to figure out how to deal with the senseless deaths and related violence, on last night’s “One on One” show, host Dickie Bradley asked a number of urban combat veterans for their take on the situation. According to Randy Petillo, the lack of jobs and impatience of youth makes for a deadly combination.
Randy Petillo
“Nuff man no got job and man hungry out ya.
Dickie Bradley
“And they have children, family.”
Randy Petillo
“Yeah. A lot of men have children and family. And they are hungry too, so you can call anybody and tell them do any lee thing because man will make any little money, because they are not working. Especially when you look like us, me and my boy here, see how we look, we are Rasta man. We go to the system and we are righteous people and they would still turn us down. They would say look how you look, your this, your that.
Dickie Bradley
“You look like two criminals.”
Randy Petillo
“Yeah, they judge you by your looks check.
Dickie Bradley
“You look like you’ll rob the boss.”
Randy Petillo
“Yeah, so you’ll stay not having any jobs, so some people, who don’t have any sense, will any little silly thing. They’ll do any little simple thing to make quick money, but some of them like me who have sense, hold it down and promote love. We promote love to the ghetto youth, love, come together righteousness, because it’s Rastas running things right now. It’s not “Crips” and “Bloods”, or whosever and whatever, it’s Rastas that are rising right now.”
