PM says Bar’s Boycott was “Not a Very Successful One”
The Chief Justice is facing serious complaints lodged by the Bar Association. One of the chief complaints is the delay in the delivery of judgments as well as the exclusion of the Bar President from the Judicial and Legal Services Commission. . To show their displeasure, during the opening of the 2019 Legal Year, 2019, executive members of the Bar were absent including the President, Director of Public Prosecution, Cheryl Lynn Vidal. Commenting on the issue was Prime Minister Dean Barrow who characterized the boycott as not very successful.
Prime Minister Dean Barrow
“Not a very successful one from what I have gathered but in any event that issue specific, item specific. The quarrel over the seating or not seating of the President of the Bar on the Judicial and Legal Commission were reasons that the Chief Justice insists were rooted in solid law and presumably again the whole question of delay but it is nothing knew and that certainly does not take away from what I insist is an outstanding record in his case with respect to administration.”
