Dalla Vs Shyne and the Unpaid Consignment
Troy “DJ Dalla” Flowers versus Shyne Barrow….it’s a pending legal drama involving two well-known entertainers and stalwarts of the United Democratic Party. One committed to taking out a twenty-six thousand dollar consignment for drinks to be sold at last year’s Music Week event in May, on the strength of their friendship. The other agreed to pay for services which included planning and hosting the event. Somewhere down the road Shyne reportedly failed to defray the cost of the consignment with Belize Brewing Company, neither did he compensate DJ Dalla for his services. It subsequently led to DJ Dalla being taken to court by the company for the outstanding balance. In light of a judgment against him, DJ Dalla, formally known as Troy Flowers, has retained the services of attorney Kareem Musa in an ancillary claim to be brought against Barrow. While the cost of other damages is yet to be agreed upon, this morning attorney Musa provided an update on the matter, informing that both parties are in the process of reaching a settlement.
Kareem Musa, Attorney
“The matter has not yet commenced. As you know, I now represent, I’ve been engaged by Mr. Troy Flowers, also known as DJ Dalla, to take action against Mr. Barrow in relation to sums that are owing, not just based on a consignment with Belize Brewing Company and that is for some twenty-eight or twenty-nine thousand dollars. But in addition to that there is a sum, a fee that is owed to Mr. Flowers for his services rendered in promoting the event. As you know, this is Music Week that took place in May 2019 and everybody knows that this is Mr. Barrow’s event and nobody else’s event. And so, the consignment that was signed with Belize Brewing Company, Shyne Barrow also has his signature on that consignment. Unfortunately, it is DJ Dalla’s consignment and that is why he was the one that was put on the hook and so now we have to do sort of an ancillary claim now to claim back from the real party which is Mr. Shyne Barrow. I have an update to report. This morning, I spoke with my client and he has informed me, and I would presume it’s because of you good people, the media, that some sort of settlement is brewing and that in fact they might be taking on, and when I say they, it is because Mr. Barrow has approached via an intermediary to settle the matter. They will be taking on the payment as far as I am aware, that is the proposed settlement, to Belize Brewing Company and so the remainder of the terms are left to be sorted out because, like I said, there are additional damages that we would be seeking.”
