Major drug bust in O.W., Cayo
While they may have been lax in securing their armoury, police were right on the money when it came to busting suspected drug traffickers. On Friday, cops in Orange Walk made two major seizures of cocaine. The first came at Tower Hill Bridge when a car was searched and close to two and a half pounds of crack cocaine were found inside. Police arrested the driver, forty-five year old Lionel Mendez and his wife Ada, both of Orange Walk Town. The pair have been charged with drug trafficking. That same afternoon a search of the home of another Orange Walk couple resulted in the discovery of three parcels totaling just under two pounds of crack. Thirty-three thousand dollars in cash was also found in the house. Elias and Margarita Melendez, both twenty-nine years old, were charged with drug trafficking. Meanwhile, in the Cayo District police arrested another family for drug trafficking as well as firearm violations. Joseph Tulcey Senior, Joseph Tulcey Junior, Enid Tulcey and Marilyn Tulcey, all residents of Mile three on the Mountain Pine Ridge Road were charged by police in connection with over two pounds of cocaine found in their home.
