Shooting in Bella Vista Village, Cayo
There were two acts of gun violence recorded over the weekend in the west in Bella Vista Village and up north in San Andres Village, Corozal. Police are looking for a resident of Bella Vista, who they say, entered the apartment of Edilson Clavel on Saturday night and opened fire at him and two other persons. Clavel was reportedly socializing with friends inside his apartment when the gunman, who he recognized, took aim at him before fleeing the area. Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Myvett says that they have not been able to establish a motive for the shooting, but they are looking for the suspect.
ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
“Edilson Clavel reported to police that whilst inside his room in the company of two of his friends, they were approached by a male person known to him for the last five months, who opened the door of his apartment and fired several shots inside the apartment, none of which caught him. He was able to escape; the police were quick on the scene but were unable to catch up with the culprit who at this point in time is being sought pending this investigation.”
