Aggravated Burglary at Happy Happy Inn on George Price Highway

A hotel just outside of Belmopan City limits was targeted by armed burglars on Saturday night. While there were no guests at the hotel, a security guard says that he was accosted by three thieves who escaped with several items including a television set from one of the rooms. Luckily, the security guard was not injured in the crime. Police say that there are investigating the matter, but don’t believe that the burglary was an inside job.

“The proprietor of Happy Happy Inn with her security visited the Belmopan police station and reported on Saturday, sometime around 7:30 p.m., whilst he was inside the guard hut at the hotel where he is a caretaker, he was approached by three male persons who assaulted him and as a result, a number of items were taken from the building including a flat screen television. So far, police have not detained anyone in relation to this investigation and we are investigating the matter. The security at that point was the only person on the premises at the time of the alleged attack.”

“These persons had weapons?”

“Yes we were told that one of those persons had a weapon but it was not used in the attack.”

“No not as yet.”

“At this point in time, we would not want to speculate other than to say we are following up on the investigation.”
