ComPol Working with F.I.U. and D.P.P. on Auditor General’s Report
Former Minister of State Herman Longsworth Jr. has been terminated from his cushy appointment in New York as Consul General, following the Auditor General’s report on the finances of the National Sports Council. He is one of several individuals named in the audit for questionable cash transactions. At Friday’s sitting of the House of Representatives, Prime Minister Dean Barrow reiterated that the documents will be turned over to Commissioner of Police Chester Williams for action once the accused persons are found to be criminally liable. Whether Longsworth will in fact be prosecuted for malfeasance involving the use of the PetroCaribe monies is to be seen, but we asked ComPol Williams, nonetheless, for an update.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“I have appointed an investigative team headed by Inspector Aban. That team is working closely with the F.I.U. and we have obtained a number of documents that were highlighted in the Auditor General’s report and we are putting together a file and when we have put together that file it will be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for her direction on the matter.”
