30 Police Investigators Successfully Complete Training
Thirty police officers completed basic training in criminal investigation. The course spanned a period of three weeks during which officers were training on professional and effective investigation in skills, attitude, and aptitude. The course was sponsored by the U.S. Embassy of Belize which also provided facilitators with technical expertise. Commissioner of Police Chester Williams says the goal is to enhance the officers’ investigative skill.

“The training came very timely in the sense that over and over we have been criticised as it relates to the level and standards of investigations that our officers have been conducting. Even though as a department we believe that the performance of our investigators has been satisfactory. We do also recognize that a person could never be over trained. As much as the amount of training that they can get, the better it will be for us because if they are better trained then they will be in that position where they can then perform satisfactory to the needs of the public.”
