Drug Plane Landings in Mexico and Guatemala
There are other reports of drug plane landings close to the northern and western borders. A soldier was killed and three persons injured in a shoot-out involving Mexican law enforcement and the drug traffickers when a suspected drug landed on the stretch of highway on Los Divorciados Chunhubub near Bacalar early this morning. After the exchange of gunfire, the suspects fled the scene and the injured soldiers were transported to a hospital in Chetumal. The military seized two vehicles, in one they found twenty parcels of suspected cocaine, each weighed in at thirty kilos. Two firearms were also found. The narco jet is the custody of the military. Across the western border, news reports in Guatemala speak of another drug plane found this morning by the Guatemalan army in Peten. As the army headed to the area, police busted two pick-up trucks suspected of being involved in the plane landing. One carried sixteen parcels of suspected cocaine in the pan of the pick-up truck and in another vehicle, they found an AK 47.
