Police give tips on home safety…
Criminals are on the loose and not because it’s the holy week that they will let up. So if you plan to be away from your home over the long weekend or if you prefer to stay indoors, the cops have some useful tips to keep you and your property safe. And if you are taking the highways there are also measures you can take to ensure a safe ride. News Five spoke with Superintendent David Henderson who gave us some tips on securing your homes.
Supt. David Henderson, O.C. Eastern Division, Police Department
“I want to ask the residents that will be going out district that they must ensure that their place are properly secure that they inform their next door neighbour to really have an eye on their place and also they need to have their place properly lighted. I’d want to advise all motor vehicle drivers that to ensure that they remain sober, they abide by the rules of the road because the police will be out there in full force. We will be enforcing all regulations on the road. These are the times when the criminals are out and the police will be out in full force. We also will ask the people in the streets or business owners to be careful and don’t have anything of value on display and don’t go out there with large sums of money. Also we have some safety tips and pamphlets that we are issuing at the check points and we have our community officers handing out them.“
