Delbert Alvarez’s Murder Not Gang Related
Why was Delbert Alvarez killed? It remains a mystery for the family and the police, who have been on the ground trying to crack the case. Alvarez was gunned down on the night of January twenty-eighth as he went to purchase weed; his body was found on the veranda of a house on Cumberbatch Street in Belize City. Police say that while Alvarez has had run-ins with the law, he is not affiliated with any gang. Several persons have since been detained for questioning. CIB Commander, Superintendent Alejandro Cowo:

“He went to purchase some items and while waiting for him to be served, he was approached by someone who came from behind the house and fired shots at his direction, causing his death instantly at the location. So far the investigation has revealed that he had just arrived there and that he does not lvie in that immediate area. He was at a family friend’s house across Lacroix Boulevard when he rode to Cumberbatch Street.”

“So what police has as to a motive behind this?”

“We have not established a motive as yet. We know that he has been in contact with the police on several occasions, but it has been for other related incidents and does not have to do with any feud amongst people in the area.”

“Well that is something that we are looking at. We do not know if he was at the wrong place at the wrong time, but we are looking at several angles that we believe could assist us to establish a motive.”
