Khris Gentle is Missing; Family Concerned

There is growing concern by family and friends of Khris Gentle, who remains missing up to news time tonight. The Belizean fisherman of Cemetery Lane in Belize City was officially reported missing by his sister on January thirtieth. This is after he was last seen heading out to Austine Bogue Island on a routine fishing trip with a man. But on January twenty-ninth, that man returned to Belize City saying that Gentle remained on the island fishing. The Belize Coast Guard has since been mobilized and a bulletin issued on the whereabouts of Gentle.  Today, we spoke with his sister, who says that the family is concerned because he was to return to Belize on Saturday, but Gentle cannot be located.

“This is something that he recently started to do as to say go to the island working with a man. He seems to like it out there; he comes home a couple of times and stated that he likes what he is doing, he is making a little ends for himself so it was actually a good thing.  Wednesday, the man that he went with actually came back in and Khris did not come in, but we weren’t really worried about it because from I spoke with him Monday, he said that he was going to come in tomorrow, which is Saturday, so we really didn’t think anything about it until yesterday when they came and told my sister that he had went out somewhere—not really sure of the story—and he hadn’t returned back as yet.”

“…basically. So as oppose to the stories, we don’t really know what to believe at this time. Me and my sisters, we are trying to keep the fate. My brothers, my aunts, my cousins, we are trying to keep the fate, hoping that they will find him because then he is not a bad person and it is so shocking because he actually just started doing this job probably about a month. And me being very concerned about the sea thing; I even asked him one night, I said. Do you guys go anywhere close to Mapp Caye where those people came up missing? He said, no, no, no, we are not in that area. So I was actually feeling a little bit comfortable about the situation because then he was not close to that area. But then again, I should have thought about it as the sea on a whole, pirates…whatever.”
