SJC looks for “Temptress of the Nile”
It may not be as hot as “Temptation Island” but it sure promises to generate some steam of its own. “Temptress of the Nile”, an SJC sixth form pageant, takes place at Holy Redeemer Parish Hall on Saturday night at 7:30. Although the event has all the trappings of a beauty contest, co-ordinator Blaine Simmons says it’s not only about looking good.

“The idea behind the pageant is to have an Indian slash Egyptian setting. The theme for the entire pageant is India/Egyptian and the stage will be a small setting of the Taj Mahal. The judges will be looking for originality, creativity, stage presence, articulation and of course the crowd reaction to the contestants.”
The five young women compete in a chat session, group dance, talent and evening gown segments. Tickets for “Temptress of the Nile” can be bought from SJC students. Proceeds from the pageant will be used for social clubs and school housing.
