Accident leaves city without water

If you live in Belize City and are wondering why you had no water today, don’t blame WASA. Shortly after ten this morning a pile driver working on private property near Cinderella Plaza managed to drive through one of WASA’s four inch supply pipes. He then made matters worse a few minutes later by cranking up the machine and driving through another pipe, this one eight inches wide, just below it. WASA’s main supply structure is interconnected, so the entire system had to shut down to effect the necessary repairs. By late afternoon the four-inch line had been restored and WASA engineers told us that some pressure should be restored by newstime. The pile driver was allegedly working under the direction of well know contractor Sir Andie.
