Courts turns over house to winner
It’s not every day that a Belizean gets to cross the threshold into his or her new home… but it’s a truly rare occasion when that home is a gift that comes mortgage free.

His name was drawn last Wednesday and today the lucky winner, Marcelino Salazar, came to collect the keys to his new house.
Anamarie Bennett, Advertising and Promotions, Courts
“We have furniture and electrical products in there valued at over five thousand dollars. We have a refrigerator, a stove, washing machine, a sofa set, a queen size bed with back support mattress.”
Jose Sanchez
“And the house itself?”
Anamarie Bennett
“It’s a three-bedroom house. It has a thousand square foot and the land is seventy-five by fifty.”
Marcelino Salazar, Homeowner
“Well first of all, I never thought I was going to win this house, but I think it was my luck and I feel okay about it. If I’d known I was going to win this, then I wouldn’t have built the one I have in Corozal. But it’s okay, I think I will keep the both of them. Well I always think about my two daughters for the future of them and I have two houses maybe one of them will get one each.”
Those of you who missed out on this raffle won’t have to wait too long to get in on the winnings because the superstore is working on a new promo backed by more money than ever.
Anamarie Bennett
“This year’s promotion is called Catch the Cash. As the name suggests you go into a booth to catch some cash. For the first two draws it’s one winner per branch and each winner takes home two thousand dollars and they get a chance to go into the booth to catch two thousand dollars more. So for the first two draws we’ll give away twenty-four thousand dollars and the final three draws is one national draw and the prizes get bigger.”
Reporting for News 5, Jose Sanchez.
Bennett says that the first “Catch the Cash” draw takes place in March.
