Man, Charged for Murder, Still Has No Attorney after Almost 5 Years on Remand
A number of bail applications were heard today. Gian Lee Guerra appeared before Justice Antoinette Moore to apply for bail but he could not be considered because he does not have a defense attorney for his trial, even though the incident allegedly happened in 2015. Guerra said he had an attorney but the case was never called and he lost that legal representation. He is charged for the October 2015 murder of Rafael Rival in Orange Walk. Justice Moore sought to sort out Guerra’s situation, to see which attorney could be assigned to represent him pro bono. That, however, won’t be known until next week when his potential attorney can review his court schedules and Guerra’s case file to argue for bail on his behalf.
