New police press officer appointed
He is no stranger to the public; having worked in print, radio and TV, and come later this month G. Michael Reid will gain an even wider audience. Reid has been chosen to fill the long vacant position of police press officer. He will receive orientation over the next several weeks and on January twenty-fourth be presented to the media at a press conference. Since the departure of Christy Castillo in the middle of last year police press matters have been handled on a sporadic basis by P.C. Fitzroy Yearwood. Reid is currently employed by FM 2000 and also writes a column for the Belize Times. He formerly produced a weekly commentary here on News 5. In announcing the appointment, a Ministry of National Security spokesman said “Reid looks forward to contributing positively to the continued good relationship between the community and the Police Department.”
