Final preparations for Marion’s visit

Last minute upgrades to the National Stadium continued today as officials prepare for the Tuesday arrival of the world’s greatest female athlete–who just happens to be half Belizean. Olympic sensation Marion Jones arrives on American Airlines on Tuesday at 12:40 and will receive the keys to Belize City at a ceremony at the Belcan roundabout at 1:30. She will proceed on a motorcade through the old capital before holding a 4:00 p.m. press conference at the Princess Hotel. On Wednesday morning at seven Marion will be the guest of her uncle, Godwin Hulse, on an hour and a half morning show that will be broadcast live on nationwide television and radio. At 7:00 that night she will be presented with the Order of Belize by the Prime Minister in a ceremony at the National Stadium. That event will be broadcast to the nation live right here on Channel 5.
