C.W.U. Stands with P.S.U.

N.G.O.’s, the private sector and unions are calling for an investigation of John Saldivar.  The Christian Workers Union said today it supports the call by the Public Service for an immediate investigation of the former Minister of National Security, Belmopan Mayor Khalid Belisle and others involved in the Dermen scandal.  The C.W.U. is also expressing disappointment that the Prime Minister failed to keep his promise to fire any Minister revealed to have lied to him and Cabinet about taking money from Lev Dermen and Jacob Kingston.  The CWU says that the heavy clouds of corruption hanging over the government because of Saldivar’s history of suspect dealings have made a mockery of the pledges of accountability and transparency on which the U.D.P. came to power.   The union is also calling for immediate laws on campaign finance to prevent any repeat of recent events.
