IDB helps homeless shelter

Story Picture
Residents of Good Samaritan Homeless Shelter in Belize City stand to enjoy improved living conditions thanks to a donation of home furnishings from the Inter-American Development Bank. The gift forms part of a series of donations the Bank will be making to five institutions in the city. Human Development Minister Dolores Balderamos Garcia accepted the presentation on the centre’s behalf from the IDB’s Representative Hugo Souza.

“We made a simple diagnosis of their needs. We found out they need some bedside tables dryers, kitchen utensils and we presented it today in the Christmas spirit.”

“We wanted to make a better connection with the community and the Belizean people and with the help of William Neal, Catherine Morgan from my office, and Ann Miller who runs this project, we selected five institutions and made this donation.”

Today’s presentation is timely as the Good Samaritan Homeless Centre celebrates its first anniversary.
