What’s John Saldivar’s Political Future with U.D.P.?

A planned event for this Thursday in the Belmopan constituency has been postponed. Saldivar is no longer in cabinet and neither is he the newly elected leader of the United Democratic Party, so what is his status within the U.D.P.?  After all, a majority of the area representatives, standard bearers and their delegates voted for the Belmopan Area Representative in a crushing defeat of Patrick Faber on February ninth.

Ernesto Vasquez, Co-host, Love FM’s The Morning Show

“Where are you with the party situation with the U.D.P.?  Where are you?”

John Saldivar

“It‘s not necessarily where I am, it’s where the party is and so at this point the party is trying to find its way forward and I will be a part of whatever solution the party is able to find.  I think we can leave it at that for now until the party decides on its way forward.”

Ernesto Vasquez

“You still have to meet and find out because it‘s anybody‘s guess, the questions are like, will there be elections?  How soon?  Is it going to happen?  Who will be the new leader?  That has to be discussed.”

John Saldivar

“All of that is left to be discussed and so I wouldn‘t want to preempt what my party would do.  I stand to play whatever role my party would want to see me play moving forward.”

Ernesto Vasquez

“How confident are you about the General Elections being won by the U.D.P.?”

John Saldivar

“I have no doubt that the U.D.P. will win the next election, I have no doubt we will recover from this and are going to defeat the Peoples United Party.  That I have no doubt and again, the media might have a perception, but the people out there on the ground have a different idea.”
