Angel Cahueque is Executed Outside His House in Corozal Town
There were two separate murders in the north and west. There hasn’t been a murder in Corozal since February second, but all that changed on Tuesday night when a resident was lured to his death in the Hall’s Layout area. The killer called out for Angel Cahueque and opened fire when he exited his house. Cahueque’s family was inside the house when they heard the fatal shots that took Angel’s life. The murder has brought a sense of insecurity in the community. And while Angel had spent time behind bars, police are yet to ascertain the motive for his murder. News Five’s Duane Moody has the following report.

Twenty-six-year-old Angel Cahueque is no stranger to police; he was recently released from prison and was at home when someone called out for him. As Cahueque stepped outside, he came face to face with a gunman who fired two shots at him. At least one caught him on the head and he lay dead in front of his house. The murder occurred in the Hall’s Layout area of Corozal Town as church service took place two properties down on Santa Maria Street.
“About seven-thirty and I heard two gunshots. After that I told a friend of mine that was in church that that is not pop shot; that is a gunshot. And then he ran out and he saw what happened and then he came into church and said he just shot Angel. But we didn’t come out; we continued until the service was over and then I came out and saw the body on the floor.”
By that time, police had already cordoned off the crime scene and Scenes of Crime personnel were at work. But one resident says that they could hear the family scream while other persons from the neighbourhood stood watch. A resident, we spoke with, says the scene was frightening.
“It was; it was because it was the first time something like that happened around here. So it was really frightening for us.”

“Now Angel lived here? Do you know?”
Voice of: Resident
“Yes, he lives there; for a long time. His mom and dad live there. I just saw the body and like I saw a hole in his forehead and blood was coming out and then his dad and mom were screaming.”
Residents in the area say that they have lost their sense of security in the community which is not known for criminal activity. The interviewee, however, says that in recent times, there has been an increase in questionable characters in the area.
“It like about thirty to thirty-five minutes before they came, but I think that police need to patrol this area more often because for the last month, we have been seeing a lot of strange faces around this neighbourhood—faces that we don’t know, we don’t recognize.”
