ComPol Tour 2020 Heads North to Orange Walk
Earlier this month, the Commissioner of Police commenced a nationwide tour of the regions. The first stop was in San Pedro and today he travelled up north to Orange Walk where he, along with Minister of State for the Police, Elodio Aragon Junior met with the rank and file of the department in that northern district. Chester Williams says that the objective is to do a post-mortem of the accomplishments and failures of the department by region.

“I will be meeting with them and outline to them what our plans are for 2020 and at the same time, hear from them—what are their views and what are their concerns—to see how we can use that as well to enhance whatever plans we have moving forward. I believe again that once management maintains communication with the lower ranks, it will only breathe greater work environment and greater success, because people don’t feel like they are in a system where they cannot voice their concerns and their opinions. I try to have a transparent style of leadership where I consult with the rank and file with a view to see how we can make our policies as best as they can be to make the respective communities safer for everyone.”
The officers in command in both San Pedro and Orange Walk were honoured by the ComPol earlier this year for the success of keeping crime down in their respective communities.
