Darrell Bradley on Stomping Out Corruption
We also asked Darrell Bradley to comment on the mammoth anti-corruption protest organized by the opposition party. Bradley says it is a function of democracy, which is required to stomp out corruption.
Darrell Bradley, Attorney-at-law
“First of all, it is a good sign whenever our political process and people involved mobilize. I think the plurality of our societies were positive and if we can show a strong and vibrant opposition, which is something that I think is needed in a democratic space, then that’s a good thing. I also think in relation to the specific issue that would have been raised; the issue of integrity in government, the issue of stomping out corruption. That is something that needs to be protested and that is something that I think if an opposition champions that, if a union champions that, if anybody champions that, that is something that should be celebrated because I think that that would be one principle in government that is universal. Every Belizean should want integrity in government and they should want a government that is free of corruption.”
