Christmas concert for Ladyville, Belize City
If you would like to treat your family to an entertaining and wholesome show this weekend, then “The Glory of Christmas” is for you. The concert, which is raising funds for the repair of St. John’s Cathedral, features Christmas music sung by the United Christian Chorale, along with dance and drama performances by the Vista Dance Group and Dramatic Force.
Sistie Harmes, Director, Vista Dance Studio
?The show at St. John?s is a fund raiser to replace the roof on this building. We?ve been trying to raise the money for years. We still don?t have enough money yet, but hopefully people will come out and support this concert. Work on the roof will start in January whether we have all the money or not. The concert will feature a new choir called United Christian Chorale with Judy Collier as the conductor. She has singers from different churches in this choir, they sing beautifully cause she?s a real professional. We?ll have about fifty dancers and also the Dramatic Force from Belmopan; they are a mime group. It?s really telling the story of the birth of Christ, the real reason we celebrate Christmas and it goes on a little bit after his birth and we will finish with the Hallelujah Chorus. I feel that this building really belongs to everybody who?s a Belizean, it?s part of our history and will try to keep it up.?
The concerts will be held on Friday at Our Lady of The Way Catholic Church in Ladyville, and on Sunday at St. John’s Cathedral in Belize City. Both performances begin at seven p.m. Tickets are available at Marva’s Home Essentials and the Anglican Diocesan Office.
